I want better messaging

http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/20029/?a=f

Interesting article on Yahoo’s plans for a better email experience.

When I started in technology, it was through tinkering around with BBSes and programming languages as a teenager. I then moved into the isp world and worked for an isp startup (www.ids.net).

I look back to the days of the BBS and the early days of the isp and marvel that email is still the pinnacle platform for communication over the network. Even with the success and emergence of social networks and content sharing sites, the number of people that still use email for sharing documents, photos, etc is staggering.

New ways to message each other emerge on the scene every single week, it seems. I want an application that will simplify and organize *all* of my messaging — be it SMS through my phone provider, video messages through www.snapyap.com, messages on www.facebook.com, www.linkedin.com notifications, my twits on twitter, etc… etc…
